$378,750.00 AUTOMOBILE VERDICT
This is a case about a then 58 year old Plaintiff who was tops in her career,
was a wife, a mother, and a grandmother who sustained life changing physical and
mental injuries with consequential cognitive impairments because a cab driver
was not paying attention while he was driving his cab.
The cab driver told the investigating police officer that he was distracted
by unrelated events occurring on the side of the road where the same police
officer was issuing a traffic citation to another motorist. By the Defendant’s
own admission, when he looked up at the roadway in front of him, it was too late
to take appropriate evasive action and significant property damage was sustained
by both vehicles.
According to the police report, only 4 feet of skid marks were left on the
roadway in a 45 mph zone.
The Plaintiff was observed as having focal seizure symptoms including
involuntary movements of her face, both hands and confusion. The Plaintiff
required emergency room treatment, and a long course of medical care.
Additionally the Plaintiff required cognitive rehabilitation. |
